I am a commitment to
healing racialized trauma.

Hello, I am Isela Cueva Rizzi, MFT

She/ Her/ Ella

Rooted in Two Worlds

I am the daughter of Mexican immigrants and a first-generation college graduate. I bring a fierce and compassionate heart to my work as a holistically-oriented, bicultural, and bilingual psychotherapist. I live and practice on the unceded Ancestral homelands of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, in what is now known as Truckee, California.

Two Decades of Culturally Grounded Clinical Experience

I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals and families across private practice, community mental health agencies, and public schools. Much of my work has been rooted in San Francisco, where I predominantly served Latine immigrant families.

My therapeutic approach draws from relational, attachment-based, somatic, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), emotionally focused, Jungian, and mindfulness modalities.

Healing as Birthright and Responsibility

For me, healing is both a birthright and a responsibility. I am committed to the ongoing work of healing racialized trauma, embodied anti-racist practices, and to ancestral healing. I am dedicated to the reclaiming and re-honoring of my own Latine heritage, and to accompanying those willing on their own healing journeys.

A Life of Deep Inquiry

I am an avid learner and explorer. For over 25 years, I have practiced yoga and meditation, and engaged in various psycho-spiritual studies, indigenous practices, and deep inquiry. I am inspired by Nature, and by our bodies’ unfathomable intelligence. I am a devoted student of the Dharma.

I hold deep respect and gratitude for all my teachers and mentors, their teachings, the lineages from which they arose, and the land, culture, and people from which they come.

“I change myself,
I change the world.”
